Mita Kundu is an internationally acclaimed singer, crossing genres of Indian classical, devotional and folk music. Mita is regarded by music gurus as one of the most versatile singers of the Bengal region. Mita graduated in Rabindrasangeet (with Honors) from Rabindra Bharati University, a premiere music school in Kolkata. She is a recipient of "Sangeet Prabhakar" degree from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, a renowned music school in Allahabad, India.

Career Highlights:

Loved and blessed by Padmabhushan Manna Dey, for her melodious and immaculate presentation, Mita has been regarded as one of the best Rabindrasangeet singers of recent times by Mrs. Maya Sen, Manna Dey and Pandit Jayanta Bose. 

Mita routinely performs in Kolkata on all major TV channels including All India Doordarshan (TV) Channels, Tara Bangla TV, ETV Bangla, Akash Bangla to name a few. Mita performed on All India Radio channels, major FM radio channels and a few American Radio Networks. 

Mita has several music albums, which are available on her website.  Her album “Robir Aloy Mita” was awarded the “Editor’s Choice” in 2009 by the Anandabazar Patrika

Mita regularly performs in India and all over U.S.A. and Canada. Mita was one of the lead performers at the 2005 Silver Jubilee NABC celebration at the Madison Square Gardens, New York, along with top artists from India. She was a regular performer at the Bengali Conference (NABC) from 1997 until 2005. Mita also performed for the Nargis Dutt Cancer Foundation, founded by Bollywood super star, director and producer Mr. Sunil Dutt.



Passion:

As Founder and Director of Sargam-USA, a music school in Portland, Oregon, Mita mentors youth and adults alike in reaching their musical potential. She is also the Executive Director of Sargam Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that funds underprivileged, talented musicians in India and U.S.A. The Foundation is providing scholarships to twenty-seven young musicians to pursue their dreams. 

She has been an honorary adviser of Sarbhabharatiya Sangeet-O-Sanskriti Parishad (All Indian Music-and-Cultural Council) since 2010.
